History

Our firm was founded in 1975 when Walter Pawluk decided that the large firm environment, while providing expertise, did not provide the affordable personal service that a smaller firm can offer. He left his position at one of the big firms to form his own. He was quickly joined by two other partners from his previous firm.

Lionel Such, who was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC in 1983 for his efforts to enact a program that offered free tax preparation services to low income seniors and the disabled and acted as a Council member for the Institute and Chairman of the Public Relations Committee, left his partnership to join Walter in 1980. Lionel brought to the firm his expertise in large corporation auditing and taxation.

Carl Voigt, who had worked in Toronto and Los Angeles before being transferring to Vancouver as partner in charge of the Audit Division, left his firm to join Lionel and Walter in 1983. Carl’s expertise lay with large company auditing and taxation.

The goal of their new partnership was to combine their large firm training and experience, with the overhead of a small firm to provide high quality services with fees that made economic sense.

Randy Kaye joined the firm in 1993 after spending two years in a senior controllership position and became a partner in 1999. The firm was renamed Pawluk, Voigt, Kaye and Such, Chartered Accountants. Randy, also from a big firm background, shared the goal of Lionel, Walter and Carl to provide quality services at an affordable price.

While the founding partners of the firm have now retired, the firm has chosen to honor their contribution by practising under the name PVKS. With the merger of the professional accounting designations in 2015 the name was changed further to PVKS, Chartered Professional Accountants.

Kristin Fox, a CGA since 1997 and member of the firm since 1990, was able to take her position as a partner after the merger of the professional accounting designations in 2015. Kristin has brought into the partnership extensive experience as a result of her 25 plus years with the firm acting as a senior advisor to the founding partners.

Randy Kaye and Kristin Fox continue to practice with the goal of providing high quality professional accounting, auditing and taxation services in a personable environment.
